10 COMMANDMENTS OF COLLABORATIVE CO-PARENTING
1 – KEEP IT CLEAN Never put down your partner in front of the kids.
2 – KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PRIZE Remember daily what you appreciate about your co-parenting partner.
3 – KEEP YOUR CHIN UP Don’t focus on the past hurts, don’t let the past get you down.
4 – KEEP AN OPEN MIND Come to each meeting/contact with an 111 don’t know” attitude. Don’t assume you know how they will respond.
5 – KEEP YOUR FEET ON THE GROUND Do what it takes to get yourself stable without your partner.
6 – KEEP ON THE SUNNY SIDE Notice when you are painting a dark picture of the future for your children. The single most powerful thing you can do is to shed shame and negative beliefs about divorce, as you are going through it.
7 – KEEP YOUR HAND NEAR YOUR HEART You are the caretaker of your vulnerable open heart. Be its shield of love when needed.
8 – KEEP YOUR EARS OUT Listen for ways you can help your children get along well with your co-parent.
9 – KEEP OUT OF THEIR BUSINESS Keep out, no trespassing. Stay in your own business. Honor the privacy/sacred space of your co-parent’s life. Don’t tell them how to parent.
10 – KEEP A BIRO’S EYE VIEW Remember your children were given two parents (sometimes more) to learn and grow from in mistakes and wisdom.
